What the guests have to say

A wonderful experience. Nicky led us through a magical landscape featuring an incredible intensity of ancient and not so ancient sites featuring stone circles, ogham stones, amazing raths, burial grounds, religious and spiritual sites, holy wells all in a beautiful forest landscape. Nicky was knowledgeable on local folklore, myths and legends and put the archaeological sites in context in a wonderfully engaging way. Highly recommended.

We really had a super day out. Nicky is a treasure trove of information. I was born not far from this area and didn’t realise the importance of the area. We met lovely people on the tour which was an extra bonus. Do go on this tour and you will be pleasantly surprised.

Nicky, was a great host, very knowledgeable and great storytelling. We walked and she would tell the story which made it a great way to understand the land. Definitely if you can take the tour.

I recently spent a magical morning on one of Tir na Glass’s walking tours on Kilranelagh hill. Over the course of two and half hours Nicky, our guide, led us along ancient ways, providing us with tantalising glimpses of the layers of our past, still visible in this wild and beautiful landscape. We encountered a medieval graveyard, Celtic crosses and monuments, a holy well, a stone circle, a cairn in the middle of a forest, and a forgotten ring fort complete with its own ogham stone and much more along the way. Enroute Nicky shared her marvellous store of knowledge about these ancient places and the folklore that still clings to them. All told this was a wonderful experience. Highly recommended. Thank you.

We did the full walk on a Saturday morning and it’s very easy to give the experience 5 stars. Nicky is knowledgeable, passionate about what she does and brings the whole place alive with folklore, mythology and story telling. Her research is obviously extensive and her preparation for each tour includes walking the route beforehand and snipping any brambles that might be a nuisance and strimming down overgrowth where necessary. She has special permission to access the privately owned land on the hill so you experience something very special which would not otherwise be possible. It is peppered with archaeological and heritage features…expect everything from raths to an amazing stone circle, ogham stone, a healing well, hill fort, possible Mass rock and more… with stunning views and a good stretch of the legs (good walking boots and tolerance for uneven ground essential and there are a few uphill climbs but no pressure to be speedy!). I live locally and am so glad I got this insight into the magic that is on the doorstep. Highly recommend.

Myself and small group went on the tour of Kilranelagh with Nicky and it was the highlight of our week long trip to the region. Nicky was so kind and shared wonderful information about the history of the area as we walked along. We visited the very old important graveyard and holy well, a hidden cairn and saw the massive ring fort from a distance as we made our way to an ogham stone and stone circle. It’s amazing to visit so much history in this one hike. Nicky has put a lot of effort into developing this and helping maintain the sites and if you enjoy history and going off the beaten path for a trek through time I’d highly recommend this experience.

The 2-hour tour with Nicky was walk was excellent. There was a good mixture of beautiful natural sights like forests and mountains, Irish history, and mythology.
Nicky is really nice and knowledgeable and made time for questions and some extra stories. The area is amazing with some unique things to see and the pace was relaxed. I am planning on going on Nickie’s other two tours soon.

It was such a lovely tour 😁
Nicky is awesome! She has so much knowledge of Irish history and mythology. She is very kind and patient. She even brought chocolate to share with the whole group (which was not to big in size so I felt very comfortable). It’s hard to say what was my favorite thing on the tour. I really liked Bridget’s well and Bridget’s chair. Even the forest was magical. I was lucky enough to tour the stone circle and the energy still is with me today. Overall great tour highly recommend this delightful adventure!
