Kilranelagh Inspired Artwork

As well as a tour guide, Nicky is an artist. Nicky has always had a love for arts and crafts; she has experimented with many different art forms over the years but has discovered that working with textile is what really inspires her. Her journey with textile has led her to tapestry and needle felting and these have become a passion.

She also has a love for stories, especially anything to do with history, mythology, fantasy and fairy tales. These have inspired her work as an artist, a wish to create magical artwork.

On moving to West Wicklow, living under the shadow of Kilranelagh, she discovered the wonderful history, mythology and folklore of Kilranelagh and the surrounding area. Many of the sites on Kilranelagh have fascinating history and folklore associated with them. This inspired her to create a series of needle felted pictures based on the history and mythology of this area. Her aim is to bring the magic of this land to life in her artwork.
