Get off the beaten track and discover the wonderful history of Baltinglass town.

Did you know that Baltinglass has a 12th century Cistercian Abbey, a prehistoric ringfort, a Neolithic passage grave, as well as an 18th century gaol?

Join the Baltinglass walking tour to discover these interesting sites and more.
As we walk you will hear about the history and interesting stories associated with the town.

Baltinglass was the home to the first hot air balloonist in Ireland.

A South American liberator and one of Ireland’s earliest female political activists was also born here.

The hero of the Irish rebels Sam McAllister started his adventures here and Baltinglass was also the site of a crazy battle over a post office!

The places and stories of Baltinglass have largely been forgotten, but you will catch a glimpse into its fascinating past.
